Forest Fire Lookout Association Chapters
The Forest Fire Lookout Association is organized into a hierarchical structure starting with Regions, Chapters, Local Chapters, and finally Area Representitives.
Regions
Regions are the larger areas where chapters are distributed. Regions are largely carved up by geography. FFLA regions in North America are East, West, and South.
Chapters
Chapters are those which have been estabished with a Director who is a voting member of the FFLA Board of Directors are referenced in the bylaws. Chapters are distributed within Regions.
Local Chapters
Local chapters (also referred to as "sub-chapters") are the groups formed for local purposes, either attached to an individual tower, or a smaller area within a chapter. Establishment of local chapters is subject to the approval of the Chapter Director. These are also informal positions in that they are not referenced in the bylaws. The leaders of these groups must be FFLA members, but are NOT voting members of the Board.
Area Representatives
Area Representatives are those individuals assigned by the Chairman as a point-of-contact in areas (states) without a formally designated chapter or in states that are attached to another chapter. These are informal positions in that they are not referenced in the bylaws. Representatives must be FFLA members, but are NOT voting members of the Board.
